Just a quick note about Solaris Zones. When you connect to a zone's virtual console port using zlogin, you eventually find yourself needing to break out of it. You might try #. since that's the break-out sequence on Sun's ALOM…but no dice. If you're not lucky enough to have Internet access, it might be awhile before you figure out ~. is the break-out sequence for zlogin. It'd be really nice if the folks in the Zones silo and the ALOM silo
at Sun (and any other group that needs to provide console break-out), could agree on a standard break-out key sequence. Alright…back to the zones….
On a side note: zones are really quite a lot better than VMware! Talk about easy to provision, and efficient resource utilization! More on that subject later.

It's even worse on the x86 LOM front… try remembering that to break out of the console application on an x4500 you have to hit "ESC+(" instead of the other combinations. To be fair, though, ~ is the traditional rlogin escape character (and ~. therefore terminates the connection), and # is the traditional escape for the "tip" serial interface command (hence #. for the ALOM terminate sequence) The silos are assuming different traditional users.

I would assume you need different break sequences. Assume you are on a alom console to a server and you need to look at a zone. You wouldn't want it to send you back to the alom prompt when you just needed to disconnect from the zone.
